The serpentine belt used within the Honda V6 engine, which Honda put in in vehicles just like the Honda Civic and Honda pilot, runs all the equipment on the vehicle. These accessories embody the facility steering pump, alternator, air conditioner and water pump. When the belt wears out, it can’t run the accessories at the rate needed. Honda installed a tensioner pulley but as a consequence of tight house, you should jack the entrance of the Honda off the ground and access the pulley from underneath the vehicle.

Honda V6 Engine Serpentine Belt Installation Instructions

1. Draw a diagram of the pulleys on the Honda V6 and denote in your diagram which side of the pulleys the belt pushes against.
2. Locate the tensioner pulley near the bottom of the engine. The pulley has a sq. gap in the face of it. Again, you must access the pulley from underneath the car, on the passenger side of the engine.
3. Place the 3/8-inch ratchet driver into the hole within the pulley and push up on the handle. This releases pressure on the belt. Pull the belt off the tensioner pulley.
4. Remove the belt from the remaining pulleys and raise the old belt out of the engine bay. Full this step from the engine bay and not from beneath the vehicle.
5. Place the brand new belt into the engine bay and route the belt around all the pulleys besides the tensioner pulley. Use your diagram as a guide.
6. Get under the Honda V6 again, push up on the ratchet driver handle and secure the belt over the tensioner pulley.
